Basic sanitation services are essential for human development, promoting health and inhibiting the spread of waterborne diseases. The availability information on water at local level supports formulation, implementation improvement public policies aimed advancing provision basic to population. In Brazil, National Water Sanitation Data System (SNIS), administered by Ministry Regional Development (MDR), is largest system in country. Here we present significant aspects SNIS offer most recent results country, which reveals that supply service closest achieve universalization preconized United Nations with almost 93% population served. situation sanitary sewer only 61.9% Brazilian have collection systems, while 78.5% collected volume actually treated. remaining 22.5% raw directly disposed environment.
